The Environmental Summer Fellows program provides a limited number of stipends to support students involved in summer endeavors, including research or internships (either unpaid or partially unpaid), related to sustainability and/or the environment. These endeavors may be creative and innovative in nature, and may be in either for-profit or not-for-profit organizations. Internships should be 20-40 hours/week for 5-10 weeks.

Water Conservation and Gray Water Recycling in Bolivia
A junior majoring in Business and Enterprise Management, Natalia assisted water quality engineers to design industrial conservation measures. She also devised a plan to divert large volumes of industrial organic waste from landfills by coordinating efforts with local worm farms.
Hydropower in Nepal and Greentech in China
Originally from Fuijan,China, Jean is a sophomore potentially majoring in Accounting and minoring in Environmental Studies. Jean studied the environmental impact of hydropower in Nepal and interned in a green technology company involved in developing new technologies for removing pollutants from coal power plants in China.
Climate Change Impact on Wind Energy
Dana, a senior from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, is majoring in Mathematical Statistics with minors in Computer Science and Psychology. She worked with Dr. Erhardt from the Mathematics Department at WFU to study the projected impacts of climate change on wind energy density in the U.S.A.
Waste to Fuel
Pierre, a junior originally from London, England, is majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Biology. He worked on developing a new green chemical synthesis to prepare solid catalysts used for the conversion of waste to advanced biofuels.
